I Can't Keep Up With What's Been Going On

Here is a picture that I love that Coadster took of me walking away from her in a parking lot.

So, I have two kind of weird/funny things tonight.

1. I was dropping Coadster off at show choir tonight, and I saw this guy walking out of the same door Coadster was going to enter. I asked Coadster, "Hey, who's the kid with the seventies hair?"

And Coadster responded, "You need to put on your glasses. That's not a kid, that's Jackson Browne." Oops. I totally forgot there was a rally for John Edwards at the high school tonight. Bonnie Raitt was supposed to be there too, but we didn't see her. Oh, and I have a question for you. Why do you think it is that anytime I hear of Jackson Browne, the first song that comes to mind is "Lawyers in Love"? He's actually written some decent other songs, but that's the only one I always think of and then I have to remember the video and giggle to myself.

2. You know how when I first started hanging out with my cell phone I was all enamored? I couldn't believe I met one device that met most of my needs - it had an alarm clock, an mp3 player, a calendar and it freed me up to be able to go places without my daughters? Well, it's not that I don't still really like it, but I've realized I've become a little complacent about it. I still think it's pretty and I definitely appreciate it, it's more that I don't feel the need to take it with me everywhere I go and sometimes, (please don't tell it this) I kind of forget I even have it.

So it was last night, when I went to bed and was going to plug it in, when I realized I had missed a text from my friend K. two hours before. I checked it out and it said:

U suck.

I replied:

Why do I suck this time?

I was surprised K. was awake after midnight, but she immediately responded thusly:

The Steelers lost in OT. We're blaming u.

Holy shit. Can you believe it? I didn't have time to go to The Vine on Sunday and I totally made the Steelers lose by not watching them.

To those of you who love the Steelers, please know that I wasn't having any fun during the game. I had to pick Stinky and her gaggle of girlfriends up from the mall. When I drove onto I-80 there was a fresh accident up ahead and I had to basically sit in my car for a half an hour and crawl to the next exit ramp off. Then, while I was driving down the Coralville strip, a car with Nevada license plates cut me off and it was wet outside, and when I hit the breaks, my obstinate car wouldn't stop. It finally did, just before I would have slammed into the Nevada car and it would have served him right, but it wouldn't have served me right. Anyway, it sounds like both me and the Steelers had a bad day on Sunday.

When I hear stories like that I am so glad that I live in a city and don't have to drive anymore.

Jackson Browne...hmmmm...no nothing. Wait, maybe that song from Fast Times at Ridgemont High..was that him?

I do not blame you for the Steelers losing. I was a bad fan as well. The game was not on locally and I really dislike sports bars on game days for the most part (too many drunken idiots getting all hepped up over millionaires and me being a Steeler in Cleveland). Besides, I was with the girlfriend and doing other stuff.

I love Jackson Browne. In Los Angeles, my dad was driving along the highway, a little while back, and he is on his way to a Jackson Browne concert and they are stuck in traffic...he looks over at this piece of shit car next to him and there, in the driver's seat with the window rolled down, in the same traffic, was Jackson Browne...driving himself to his own concert.

I'm not big on using my cellphone. If it had an MP3 on it, then maybe. But I've neglected it too and will find text messages from my friends who have wished me a "Happy Easter", but I found the message around Christmas.

Jackson Browne and Robert Redford haven't changed thier hairstyles since Sonny & Cher were still on TV. I also always picture both of them wearing faded blue chambray workshirts with cowboy boots.

JB always triggers "Running on Empty" in my head. Which is not a bad song to trigger at all.

Hope you and the girls have a great Thanksgiving.

I am getting like that with my car already. I still love it but realise it's just a way to get from A to B.
I have no idea who the Steelers are...but then I do live on the other side of the world. I guess it would be like me writing about the Bronco's. You'd say, who the fuck are they?

So, maybe I missed this but when and how did you get into the Steelers, anyway??

I still have an old nokia phone without mp antyhing and without camera or downloadable rings, but I still love it.

Jackson Browne...Running on Empty is what comes to mind for me. Nice. And hey, you might want to consider taking the blame/credit for the Steelers losing. Think of the power!

Jackson Browne was in Grinnell today (with Bonnie Riatt and John Edwards). Makes me feel closer to home to hear we are getting the same political visitors!

The Pretender is the first one I think of...

Mr Atrocity,

I would be so happy if I didn't have to drive. I miss living in a city sometimes.

Evil-E,

That was him. She's got to be somebody's baby...

The bar we go to is more of a dive and less of a real sports bar, so it isn't too bad.

Stepping,

That's so cool. Here he was traveling in a mini van that someone else was driving.

Tara,

If I didn't have my girls, I probably wouldn't have it as handy as I do.

Fringes,

You know during harvest season when all the tractors are out, things can get pretty backed up.

MinJonB.,

Sorry.

LAdy,

His hair hasn't changed a lick. And I'm not sure he wasn't wearing a blue chambray work shirt and cowboy boots.

Brando,

Thanks and also with you.

My favorite JB song is Doctor My Eyes. I just wish that was the first one I thought of at his mention.

Michelle,

Sure I would, the Broncos are a football team from Denver, Colorado. No, do they play soccer or something in Australia?

Poptart,

I'm really a Bears fan, but I'm not long suffering enough to be a true Chicago team fan. The Steelers are my second favorite team and I have a group of friends who just love them, so I've been going to the Vine to watch them on Sundays. It's a lot of fun.

LauraB.,

I am all powerful.

Dj,

It will be interesting to see what other celebs show up before caucus time.
