As The Days Fly Past, Will We Lose Our Grasp?

Here's a picture of a cute, sleepy, little, baby calf. Awwww.

A week or so ago, Poptart wrote that Fall was more of a time of change and resolution for her than the new year. I tend to agree. If I've said it once, I've said it a million times, I'm a hibernator. I get kind of excited the first few months of Fall, because I finally get to rest. In the Summer, I feel like I have to be out and about and going, going, going, but once it starts getting colder, I really slow down. So, during the Fall, I tend to get a little more reflective and start gathering the proverbial nuts (hee, hee - nuts) to fortify my lair and make it all nice and cozy.

The last few weeks, I've been doing just that. My new room and my awesome, gigantic bed (oh, how I love memory foam) are set and ready for hours and hours of resting. I've been thinking how nice it would be to get a TV and a mini fridge in there, but then I would never leave my house. I'd lose my job and have to call meals on wheels and my girls wouldn't be able to do any activities... So, maybe I'll hold off on that.

The difference between this Winter and last Winter, is that I'm really going to try harder to leave my house. I went for a few years where I had just given up on trying to date, and frankly, most of the things I like to do are fairly solitary activities, so I was happy to stay home and live in my own little world. But I promised myself that this time, once I feel ready to start dating again, I'm actually going to make an effort - well, at least go out every once in a while. I'm not sure how open I'll be to all the fix-ups my friends and neighbors try. In the past, after meeting one of the guys they told me I'd love, I had to wonder if my neighbor hated me, or just didn't know me at all.

Right now, though? Right now, I'm still not ready (you know, 4,320 times bitten, 8,640 times shy) and so I'm stockpiling all my comfort items in preparation for the very, very long nights ahead.

I love your labels. "scairt of boys" especially.

I love fall because my b-day is in the fall.

Sounds like the nesting thang is going well with the new bed and all...

I would love to be able to hibernate too.. but alas I can't.. I still have things to do and places to go.. This year it will be different.. due to Mr.Giggles being older.... That nesting sounds like it is going splendidly.. As for gathering those proverbial nuts.. Stockpiling them is the way to go for those long winter nights...

Hibernating IS an activity in Iowa winters. Except I like going to play tennis and basketball inside, and going to the University library. And going to shoot pool. And I always thought it'd be fun to do something for the local cable station. I don't know what I'd do (or you, for that matter) since I lose my entire mind (even the tiny brain disappears) in front of an audience. Except there's only a camera, so that doesn't quite count. Maybe it'd be easier.

Does the U. have any continuing education? Me, I love those thingies. I think I love the no-grades part.

ANYWAY, point is: hibernating sounds very exciting, but it does have a few thangs competing with it.

I'm envious of your bed. I have a comfortable one too, but no memory foam. Sounds like a good night's sleep!

I'm going to try to go out for more classes this fall and winter. Monday I get to sign up for choir, but I want to take a few community classes as well.

Fall is the best 6 days we have in Mississippi.

I too hibernate. But I'm proud of it. I'll get out some- I really enjoy drinking Burbon when it's cold out- but I like to snuggle under the blankets and read or watch movies during the winter. I can't wait.

haha! With two teenage girls you would have a hard time becoming completely homebound, so I am guessing your impulse to lay low won't be too permanent or harmful. Everyone needs a time out now and then.
Then...when you are ready...you can get out there with a vengence ;-)

I love when I meet new people for the first time and within five minutes they say, "I know a girl that would be perfect for you."

I immediately think "she must be fat" because I'm fat and people seem to think Fat + Fat = Adorable.

Not,

Scairt of boys is my most honest label.

What day is your birthday?

Babybull,

Wouldn't it be great to have the luxury to REALLY hibernate?

Booda BAby,

I'll have to wait until the girls go to college to be able to take continuing ed classes. I have to be available for them right now.

Tara,

Choir sounds like so much fun. You'll have to let us know how that goes.

Liz,

I'm right there with you on the blankets and the couch and the movies.

LauraB.,

I would only get out there and feel really uncomfortable trying to date.

Killer,

I have the opposite problem. People think because I run and am in okay shape because of it, That I must want some guy who lives in the gym. No thanks.
