We'll Spend Some Time Forever

Well, those two last posts recounting the weekend were a lot of fun, but now I'm back on the chain gang. For the next two weeks, I'll have some kind of activity to attend for the girls almost every night. It's all great and I'm glad that my girls are so involved in stuff, it's just the whole time thing...Or lack thereof. When there's one of me and two of them, it seems like I get off work, get home, drive kids all over hell and back and then go to a choir concert, band extravaganza or soccer game. I come home to the messiest apartment ever and then it's pretty much time to go to bed. I know, wah fucking wah.

Honestly, I love my life, I love how chaotic and varied every day is and the only time I'm ever really bored is at work. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I can't wait for the next two weeks to be over so things can start getting on our slower, Summer pace. We'll be done with activities, and best of all, I've worked it so that for the six weeks after Memorial Day, I'll have at least one day off a week. How many times have I whined about needing at least one more day a week to get things done? Plenty. So, I just decided to give myself one for a while. Yea me!

Here is my oldest baby in her choir gown. I think she looks amazing in all that black, complete with matching hair. I can't believe she turns sixteen on Thursday. Holy fucking shit! She has to take an AP test on that day, and then she's going out for dinner with some friends to celebrate. If I've said it once, I've said it a million times, it's kind of embarrassing that my daughter is more mature than I am and has been since she was born.

There's graffiti on the dumpster!

Slower summer pace is what I have been running on since the middle of February. The new job is less hours and more free time for me raise my own special kind of havoc.

Glad to hear you have some short weeks upcoming. Those days off seem so much better when they are spread out over weeks instead of using all in a row.

It's fun to not be mature at times. Congrats on your new day to yourself. Hope you follow through and actually keep it.

I love the C picture! And yes, she's been pretty damn mature, but maybe not since birth. I'm thinking of when she was a toddler (pre-cast) and we would put on music and she'd do that dancing/rocking thing even in the stroller that would crack everyone - including her - up. (Do you know what I'm talking about?)

I think whatever age she was then is about where you and C were at the equivalent level of maturity.

That's a pretty cool sign in the dumpster. It could make cool wall art :)

We're counting down to summer here, too. An extra day sounds fun.

Great idea about the extra day a week for yourself! I'm happy for you-but totally jealous :)

the evils of summer-- having kids around all day , but hopefully kids that will sleep in and make their own damn lunches. I love when my kids are more mature than me- except when they tell me how to drive.

I wish you daughter a very Happy 16th birthday!

I've got a nephew who's 20 years old. Talk about yikes. Plus he's on MySpace and added me as a friend.

I think spreading days off over a few weeks is a great idea. It seems easier to give over to relaxation when it is a single day.

Coadster is a beautful girl.

She's pretty stunning in black. Funny. Do you even wear black?

How did you manage that? A day off a week AND a road trip? If four day workweeks were the standard, I'd have never started freelancing. (Maybe.) That's about the perfect amount of up time and down time. And general recovery time.

Think I'm lying? (I don't blame you if you do, but) ... my word v. is: noffwn. Please! Even your blog's celebrating the big plan.

Churlita,
Ummm, excuse me,,, if your daughter didn't learn maturity from you, now who did she learn it from?;)

They grow up fast. It's great that you derive so much pleasure from participating in their lives!

Obviously, you must have done something right that your daughter seems to be more mature than you. Of course, you earned the right to be a bit more immature.
