Well, yesterday was day two of no internets for Churlita. Because I took tons of science classes when I was younger and thought I was going to be pre-med in college, (I know, Shut up) I had plenty of experience eliminating variables. So, last night that's what I did and you want to know what I found out? Both my internet and router must be working because my XBox Live is up. Now, I'm thinking it might be something to do with the fact that I downloaded the 8.0 edition of the free AVG virus scan. For anyone with this kind of knowledge, would that prevent me access from my beloved internet? And if so, do I just take the program off and start all over?
Anyway, I will keep trying to work on this over the weekend, but we'll see how far I get. The guy who was my wedding date last month is in town this weekend and we're going to be hanging out at the local hippie'ish music fest right outside of town and probably won't have tons of time to work on my computer woes. If I do get it up and running, I'll be sure to try and write a post sometime in the next day or two.

There's a chance the new program has built in firewalls not letting you access the internet as you normally would. I'm not familiar with this specific program, though, so Gyuss would probably be better to tell you if it's the problem. I say if it's not going to hurt anything uninstall it. If that's not the problem you can always just put it back on there.
Bummer about your computer woes! At least you're figuring out the problem.
Hippie music fest activities sound like fun. Have a blast dancin'!
It would be odd for AVG to block access to a router. You're most probably connected to the router via ethernet (the cable that looks like a 'phone cable) so if it has mucked anything up, it's probably your ethernet networking gubbins. Have a poke about in the network settings or have a look in AVG to see if it's done something to your networking capability.
Bummer. Have fun with Wedding Date Guy!
You jinxed the computer when you posted a photo from the 80s - its Culture Club getting back at you.

Have fun with the boy!
Susan has nailed it on the head and it is more than likely a firewall related issue.
If you uninstall the AVG and still have issues, check the obvious things (network cable plugged in securely, no red lights on your network card, no aliens with ray guns snickering in the corner).
Also if you have windows set to auto update, it may have changed some settings on the Windows XP built in firewall.
Finally, right click on your my computer icon, go to properties and then to the hardware tab (assuming XP) and go to the device manager. Make sure no yellow exclamation point or red X on your network card indicating it's disabled or the driver is not working.
yeah, you'll be out listening to music. uh huh.
I vote that it's the new installation that's causing the problems. I remember learning that my Norton Antivirus was the main culprit to my computer being all messed up. Once that was taken off, my computer sighed in relief. I was there, I heard it.
My vote is with a Windows update that affected firewall settings. I read another blogger's post on lack of internet as a result of Windows updates done on Wednesday.
I have done both the Windows updates and the upgrade to AVG 8.0, though, with no problems, so who knows.
If this isn't working for ya before the weekend is out, give me a hollar. I can walk you through troubleshooting and isolating where it's at.
Have fun with wedding date guy Churlita!! I wish you guys were coming to my hippie music fest instead.
Churlita,
It's always good to have alternative plans.
Pre-med huh, Why am I not surprised?

Glad you can still post, tho. Your pictures are great, but pictureless blogs are OK too.
"the guy that was my wedding date last month"...that's the kind of date to have.
Good luck and I think the Interweb really left us hanging on your story...oh man! The suspense!
Catching up....
Mine was down because the Microsoft update and my firewall (Z.A.) did not mesh very well. There is a work around.
I can't believe I am only just visiting you. How many co-existing bloggers do we have to read that also read each before we start looking? FUCK! Anyway... I can totally relate because the internet gods have not been on my side these past 2 weeks. Very frustrating and good at the same time...
