She Comes Back to Tell Me She's Gone

The girls in Coadster's dorm room.

This will again be very brief, as I am furtively blogging from work right now. Still no computer at home yet. I'm hoping for today, but it could still be tomorrow.

Coadster has some unpacking to do...

So, we took the girl to college yesterday. I didn't really cry....Much. I did tear up a little right as we hugged goodbye and left her bounding up the stairs to her dorm room. I told her to have a great time, learn from her mistakes and not to beat herself up about stuff. She laughed and said, "Of course, I'll beat myself up about stuff. That's what I do..." But I can still remind her not to, can't I?

What the hell? Her dorm room is pretty sweet.

I know she's ready for college and I'm so happy for her. I have to say, it was a little lonely waking up this morning and not seeing her. It's not like she moved far away, though. She might be back for Labor Day weekend and if not then, she'll for sure come back for the Iowa/Iowa State game. Until that time, there's always Skype...Once my computer ever gets here.

How big is that dorm room? I never lived in a dorm and I always pictured them as being quite tiny.
Think how exciting it will be to have your college age daughter coming to visit...just her and her laundry :-)

Wow, those dorm room doors are awesome! Are you sure it's a dorm and not a French villa?

Wishing tons of luck to Coadster and hoping that you and Stinky enjoy the time you have together as well. And like you said, Coadster's not too far away. My brother moved to Arizona when he went to college.

Churlita,
I remember those bittersweet days when we left them at the dorm for the first time. Proud and sad, happy and worried, but mostly just proud.
Good job mom!

That dorm room is way nicer than mine was (which had an ambiance similar to Alcatraz). Good luck to Coadster...and I know it must be bittersweet for you. I can't wait to hear how she's doing.

After seeing that dorm room, I am tempted to go back to college.
