I "Cloud Nine" When I Want to

Remember how random yesterday's post was, and I was so aware of it and made fun of my negative patterns and all? Well, apparently my self-diagnosed ADD knows no bounds and seems to be even worse tonight. It's okay. I know how I am, so I just put myself on lock-down tonight and saved the whole world from myself.

Unfortunately, I'm not considerate enough not to blog, so I'm going to be all over the place (as Evil-E said about yesterday's post) once again tonight.

1.) So, hey. You wanna see the notes I took at my last work meeting?:

Yeah. If it had been a meeting about how to draw cheesy cartoons at work, I would have been fine. Alas, I have no idea what the meeting was about. All I got from it, was that I needed to bring some different colored pens so I'd have more options for doodling.

2.) I've been kicking around the idea of getting a cell phone lately. Both the girls have one, but I didn't think I needed one because we still have a land line. I was talking about it with Mr. Dateman this weekend and he suggested that I get rid of my home phone altogether. Duh. I don't know why I didn't think of that myself. It would definitely save me some money. It will just take some work getting my new number out to everyone. I've had my old one since I split with my ex-husband over ten years ago.

3.) Since tomorrow is the last work day for me this week, I've been fantasizing a lot about what I'm going to do with my time off. Of course, I want to run a whole bunch. And now that I have our family season passes and my new swim suit top, I want to devote some time to lounging at the city pool reading comic books. There's nothing like it to bring me right back to Summers when I was a kid. They even play the local classic rock station, so the music is still the same.

4) WARNING: NERD GIRL ALERT - This point kind of goes with the last one, so I better make it my last. It's pretty sad when my ADD gets so bad that my randomness corrects itself. I'm going to the comic book store this week to get some more intellectually stimulating reading material. The last time I was there, the guy behind the counter was telling me about a new Hulk series. Then a week or so ago, some nameless/faceless guy on Myspace messaged me about the same thing. I've never been a big fan of The Hulk, but I do like to follow the advice of complete strangers, so I'm going to see if the graphic novel is out yet. I'm sure you'll all be waiting with bated breath.

Okay, okay. I better go. There are so many other things to obsess about before I go to sleep.

two things:
1) sun block
2) you might be able to port (keep) your landline number to a cell phone.

Not,

Don't worry. I'm obsessive about sunscreen.. I'll have to check out the number thing.

Two more things:

1) Love the cartoon.
2) Have you read Jeff Smith's "Bone"? It's all collected together into a single volume. There's a set of coloured versions but I prefer the black and white originals. I'd be gobsmacked if your comic store didn't have it.

Is that a drawing of you at the laundrymat? I like it.

Cute doodling.. I have no talent when it comes to drawing... it is too much for my little old brain to handle..
Don't forget sunscreen and a hat and water... munchies also Have fun at the pool...

ADD? with that note taking ablity?

I love the sketch. Looks like an angry super-hero at the laundromat. Forget the Hulk: beware the wrath of the mighty Speed-Queen!

I still have a land line, and I usually use my cell phone for emergencies on the road.

Meetings are a perfect time to sneak in a doodle or two. I like yours, are you at a laundromat in that picture?

Ha! Complete strangers always seem to have the best advice.

That's a darned good doodle and unless your meetings are phenomenally different than any I've gone to, you accomplished way more.

Wow, I love your work doodling. That's a great drawing there. Does your hair look anything like that?

Your girls have cell phones and you don't? Yes, you should get one. I got one initially for emergencies and they sure do come in handy for meeting people too.

Have you checked out Aline Kominksy-Crumb's "Need More Love" grapic memoir? It's good...probably better than the new Hulk....just a guess.

Churlita,
With your funky (like in horrendous storms, tornadoes, etc.) weather, you may want to rethink the abolision of your land line. Just asayin'!
my son has only a cell and that works for him.

Thanks for the mention....

I must have been in a similar meeting, I do that all the time.

I still do not have a cell either...I do not want to talk to anybody badly enough.

I still say you did not need the top.

I don't know, the Hulk can get really boring sometimes. I gave up on the character because he was in a word, stupid.

1. Great notes
2. Cell phone: buyer beware
3. Lounging at the pool: go for it
4. New comic book: I look forward to hearing about it.

I love you in the face said...

Your cartoon is adorable..

Awesome drarwring!! They should pay you to do that at meetings, anyway, and make funny comments. As a benefit to other employees.

I would also like to recommend the 2 Persepolis graphic novels, if you are looking at the comic shop tomorrow, and anything by Julie Doucet...

And I MUST commend my favorite label so far: Comic books are fundaMENTAL. You crack me up!

Mr Atrocity,

I'm putting Bone on my list.

Killer,

I took a photo like that of my daughter at the laundromat, but the girl looks nothing like my daughter, so it is just an unknown girl with funky hair.

Babybull40,

Check, check, check and check.

Margaret,

I know. It's hard to believe isn't it?

DMarks,

And what would her superpowers be?

Tara,

I was going to try to keep both, but it will be cheaper just to scrap the land line.

Booda Baby,

I don't pay attention enough to know what gets accomplished and what doesn't at my meetings. At least I feel like I accomplished something.

Egan,

I wish my hair looked like that. Mine is all full of frizz.

LA,

I'm writing it down and bringing it to the comic book store with me tomorrow.

Rel,

Our land line is from our cable and didn't work for over a week after the tornado. We had to borrow our neighbor's cell phone during that time. I think we'll try this for a bit.

Evil-e,

You crack me up.

Alien CG,

We've had good luck with Verizon so far.

ILYITF,

Thanks.

Poptart,

Thanks and I'm writing down your suggestions as well.

I'd recommend She-Hulk over the Hulk. It's been really good for a while now.

If you buy graphic novels then I'd suggest Why I Hate Saturn and The Cowboy Wally Show. Both are written by the same person and are very good in different ways.

Churlita said...

Dagromm,

Cool. I just love all these suggestions.

that woman in the doodle looks seriously frightened of the laundromat, and I don't blame her.
