But It's Always Me That Ends Up Getting Wet

Here is a photo of some silos and shit.

Kids, I gotta tell ya, I am just exhausted. I don't know if it's residual tiredness from my weekend funk, (apparently, feeling all sorry for myself tuckers me out) or if I stayed up too late checking outlets and light bulbs, but I've felt just bone tired all day long.

I stopped by the Picador after work for a bit to say goodbye to a friend of mine who is moving back to his home town. Then I went home and fell asleep. Stinky woke me up at 6:30 and it was one of those times where I wasn't sure if it was am or pm. Realizing I didn't have to get ready for work, I stared off into space for a bit before I got going.

I went over to Mr. Dateman's for a couple of hours and when I left to drive back home, I discovered it was pouring outside. It was raining so hard, I could barely see two feet in front of me. When I got a mile from Iowa City, I saw this guy running in the middle of Dubuque Street. At first, I thought he might have had car trouble, and he was trying to get out of the rain. As I got closer, it was clear that he was just jogging, down a busy street, in the dark during a downpour. Duh. All I could think, was that there were a lot easier ways to kill oneself.

Maybe he was recreating that scene from "It's a wonderful life to sing in the rain" maybe?

Some people have all the fun.... Have you never run in the rain?

I don't know. That seems pretty easy to me. He only has to trot along waiting for someone else to do all the work and handle the paperwork. And he goes to the morgue clean. I imagine that taking a shower must feel like the biggest pain in the ass when you're aiming for dead.

that's an endorphin addict

If I jogged at any time of the day or night I would probably have a similar percentage chance of dying as this bloke did.
Um, it's not that I am out of shape or anything
...cough..cough...bullshit...cough...cough.

I liked the picture. I saw the silos, but I didn't see the rest of it. Feeling sorry for yourself will tire you out worse than anything. That usually happens to me when I'm tired already. Try to get some extra sleep.

I wonder if people who do things like go running in the rain and in subzero temperatures and at 5am realize how lazy they make the rest of us feel. If so, they ought to stop, dammit.

Exercise is highly over-rated. Everyone I know who's physically fit is injured.

I do not like to run on crowded streets.....I do like to run in the rain, it feels good. But if it is pouring, that can get painful after a while.

Churlita,
I've noticed on occassion that runners have a weird style of dedication....Oblivion!

I must confess to similar behavior. I even ran in a thunder and lightening storm once.

You in car. Mysterious man not in car. Pouring rain. This sounds like the makings of what could be a decent scary movie.

But he turned out to be a jogger. Ah well.

Not Fainthearted,

Or maybe he's just whack.

Babybull40,

I've been running in the rain before, I just didn't run in the center of a busy street at night wearing dark clothing. I tend to keep to the sidewalk.

Booda Baby,

Who wouldn't want to leave a clean corpse?

Margaret,

...or something.

Rachel,

Ha, ha. I'm sure you're in great shape.

Dagromm,

In Iowa, it's more smelling the shit.

I think you're right about being tired and down.

Jane,

I run in the ice and snow and rain, just not in the middle of the street. I'm crazy like that.

David in DC,

Sshh. Don't jinx me. I love to run and I'm terrified of getting injured.

Evil-E,

Running when it's pouring can be fun for a mile or two, but then you have to worry about things chafing.

Rel,

I'm in no place to judge a runner, but I feel totally justified and judging someone who makes it so I could easily hit them with my car and be wrecked for life.

Sarah,

...Or a good Penthouse forum piece.

Did you lay on the horn and swerve/screech loudly to make him really nervous and "teach him a lesson" about running in the street? Depending on my mood, I might have done...

Poptart,

I was too bust driving like a 90 year old woman to handle that kind of show.
