You Get a Shiver in the Dark, It's a Raining in the Park, but Meantime...

A recycled photo of my girls in their younger years. Amazing how that only seems like a few weeks ago.

Oh, weekend...How I am ever so ready for you. Tomorrow, Stinky has the day off, so she's going with some friends to Cedar Falls to watch her high school football team in the play offs. I doubt she'll be home until fairly late.

The guy and I are doing our usual Friday night date in. I'm baking salmon (I know we just had it, but it was the best looking fish I could find and I never get tired of it), making cous cous and I'm going to saute' some veggies. To drink we're mixing some vodka cocktails. I got tonic and limes and cranberry juice and red grapefruit juice. I also rented the movie, Secretary. I had some people recommend it to me and it sounds pretty dark and sexy...Well, the fact that creepy James Spader is in it, pretty much says it all.

I have no idea what I'm doing on Saturday. The weather is supposed to be crappy. The guy and I had been talking about going to different small towns around here every weekend and wandering around in the later afternoon and then finding a cool place to eat and a funky dive bar for a drink, but we'll see if that will work this weekend or not. I hope so. I love doing that kind of thing.

So, what of you, good people? Will you having a date night in, or going out for your fun?

I feel exactly the same way about my son. My last clinical was just down the street from where the hospital he was born in was (it's since been torn down). I look at him and think "wasn't it just like six months ago I was bringing him home from the hospital?"

My weekend will be a mix of business and pleasure. I switched my work schedule around-- I'll work tomorrow night, but will actually see my son this weekend, and won't have to work until midnight Saturday, then get up at 5 am to go to my 12 hour nursing clinical.

I betting that your weekend will be great even if the plans change.

I have to work on Saturday, but Sunday I am having brunch with two of my best friends.

Going to a flea market with my mom tomorrow and then maybe to a baptism on Sunday. Other than that, I've got nothing else planned. Oh and maybe going out to lunch with a friend today.

Now the Sultans of Swing is in my head. Thanks for the lyric.

I always thought the trumpet playing band jab was aimed at Chicago.

It ain't what they call rock and roll.

Hope to have a date night tomorrow.

I had a quiet weekend... except for the football party yesterday. That was noisy! But fun.
A nice quiet day today. My guy is out installing counter tops for his son's fiancee, so I'm cruzing the blogs.
Have fun... sounds great!

That's exactly how we lived in Iowa - wandering into the countryside. I have to admit, it seemed a little easier to do in NE Iow - there are all the river towns and then the god-forsaken but cool joints in the wind-fucking-swept plains. If you ever head northwards, let me know. (As in, wouldn't it be fun if you came up when we were home for New Year's? Hm? Jeezus. It's too cold to even think about right now.)
