If You'll be My Bodyguard, I Can be Your Long Lost Pal

Here is a photo of me in a store in Chinatown in San Francisco from 1986.

So, I was right. I hit the ground running and didn't stop until after 9 tonight. I got home from work, made Coadster food, drove to Stinky's basketball game, watched her team get trounced, went grocery shopping, came home, and made dinner for me and Stinky. I'm hoping I can start slowing down at least a little tomorrow. Also, I really am trying to catch up on my blog reading. I hope to be back to my normal daily reading by tomorrow sometime too.

The other thing is that I got this message back from Neal's brother yesterday:

Hi Churlita,

Yes, I do remember you when I visited home way back then. Neal was pleasantly surprised to get your message. Hope all is going well for you. Now we can keep up on Facebook . Here's Neal's address: some small town in the Napa Valley area. He's doing fairly well these days. Catch up with you more next time.

Neal's Brother

He asked me to be his friend on Facebook, which I thought was very nice. I sent him a note back thanking him for doing that. I guess I hadn't read his note closely enough, because I said something like, I was glad Neal was doing so well. Then when I reread his note, I noticed that he said "fairly well". I certainly wouldn't describe myself as doing fairly well. In general, I think I'm doing really well. So, now I'm thinking I may have responded incorrectly. Oh well. It's not like I can unsend the message. I'm going to do one last photo search to make sure I have all of his pics, write him a little note and send all of that stuff off to Neal, hopefully this weekend. Even if I don't hear anything back from him, at least I tried and got his photos back to him. I'll also hope that fairly well, is better than it sounds.

I just need to say this is one of my all time favorite songs. I think I'm going to blog about why today.

I actually wouldn't use "fairly well" unless I was closer to "not well at all".

I'm super curious about how he is doing now and how he will respond to you--obviously positively...maybe a bit of Churlita is just what he needs to be doing well again.

PS I love that pic of you!

Hm, I agree. I would tend to read "fairly well" as pretty conditional. Maybe Neal's brother is just doing so great that it is an unfairly comparative statement? I can't help but be curious....
And I hope you are able to get some down time soon :-)

I think fairly well is synonymous with OK. But that's just me.

But then again, I've started with the top entry and not the bottom in catching up, and so don't know what the hell is going on.

Oh, and my word verification is: obsess.

Awesome that you finally found Neal!

My verification word is infir. Wonder what I can infer from that.

I have to admit, I don't recognize all the titles of songs you quote from, but I recognized that one. I love that song, "You Can Call Me Al", and I love the video, too.

Susan,

See? That's what I was thinking too.

DJ,

Look how young I looked and how frizzy and curly my hair was. Thank god for product.

LauraB.,

I haven't seen him for twenty years, but back then "fairly well" wouldn't have been that great. He used to get kind of sad and lost sometimes and I always felt responsible for making him happy. It's weird how all that came back to me just by contemplating what "fairly well" could mean for him.

Nor,

I hope you're right. Obsess is the perfect verification for my blog in general.

DMarks,

I've noticed the word verifications looking more like words and less like gibberish lately.

Tara,

I use Paul Simon lyrics too much on this blog, but he's so clever that so many of his lyrics fit the topics.
