Ice, Ice, Baby

Computer Update: The computer was put on hold this weekend since we didn't have electricity and couldn't really leave our house for most of Saturday. I will begin bugging people anew today.

...And now for the rest of the blog post (the one where I overuse three consecutive dots)...

Paying for my expenses after the tornado last Spring... A few thousand dollars.

The amount of my heating bill over what I paid last year at this time...$150.

Overhearing one drunk guy in front of the Deadwood telling another drunk that global warming is less about steadily rising temperatures and more about weather extremes...Priceless.

I actually saw the transformer blow that cost us power on Saturday night -- it was over on Rochester. I was working in my office when the lights flickered, then saw a blue flash toward that direction.

Great post title.

Brandon,

I wondered if it was the same one that blew last Spring on Rochester Street. I heard the weird noise it produced - it was kind of cool and science fitction-y.

Crikey! Things are bad. Computer problems, heating bills and no power. I don't know how you cope without falling in a heap:) I probably would have but then I'm a little fragile right now.

I often imagine how much better my life would be without power. My headaches at work would be gone, though my current job would also be non-existent. I could however, happily live out my days as an antique furniture re-finisher instead of an I.T. guy...

SOTJ,

Wow. That's crazy. I'm glad I allotted for it, or I would be really stressed out right now.

Michelle,

Most of those things are inconveniences that make me cranky, but around this time of year in 1999, my daughter had meningitis and it puts everything in perspective.

Q,

I was okay with it, (except for not having heat)my daughters would probably hyperventilate for the rest of their lives without it, though. Can you re-finish anitques anyway?

Yes I can, though I specialize in tables/desks. I wish I could learn how to refinish pianos though, that is my real calling I think...

Churlita,
I saw the Iowa storms on the news over the weekend, and worried about you and the girls.

Q,

That's so cool.

Margaret,

The drunk guys were probably homeless, so I doubt it.

Fringes,

I know. I used to date a guy who did that and he gave me a beautiful antique dresser with a smokey mirror that I eventually sold for many dollars.

Bice,

Do you think so?...

Rel,

We're okay. Thanks for thinking of us, though.

Wow. It must have been exciting to see Al Gore hanging out at the Deadwood!

Somehow, I can't imagine Mr. Gore even being a good drunk...

I'm still pissed that he let his little woman try to take my Rock & Roll away. Any man with half a nut would have said, "Baby, chill out -- and turn it UP! It's FREEDOM ROCK!"
