Here is the window of a junk store on my way to work. Apparently, it was Diana Ross day today. Who knew?
So, hey! What do ya know? I actually did run this morning and it felt wonderful. I've missed my old friend, running.
Tonight I decided to try my hand at making a veggie version of French onion soup for tomorrow. I'm also making Ceasar salad from scratch. I gave myself an hour to make the broth, like they said in the recipe I printed off the web - carmelizing onions takes a long, long time. The only problem is that I'm a little sensitive to onions...And when I say a little, I'm lying. I'm CRAZY sensitive to onions and it took me twice as long just to cut them up. I had to keep taking breaks to wipe my eyes with a towel, go into another room to give them a rest and then start again. Oy!
Anyway, the extra time I spent means I won't go to bed early enough to get a run in tomorrow morning. It's okay. It's only Tuesday. I have plenty of days left to run, swim and hopefully ski this week. In the mean time, I better go stir a vat of onions and it will all be worth it when I'm dining on a lovely hunk of crusty French bread, soaked in wonderful oniony broth and covered with Swiss cheese. Yum.

I'm okay with most onions, but occasionally I cut into a really strong, juicy onion and my eyes start burning and tearing up.
Hmmm running cold water over them doesn't help a little? If you don't mind, could you send me some of that soup? I loooooove French onion soup!
How much you want to bet you still got some running in this morning? :-)
French onion soup and Ceasar salad sounds like the perfect meal to me.
I have seen these things called Onion Goggles...they run about $20 but maybe they'd be worth it!
Yes--go for the onion goggles! I have a friend who swears by them. here you go: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.ca/product.asp?sku=112667&
I think you can also just run them underwater. Or, you can just run out of the room. Which sounds like more fun.
Churlita,
Even though French Onion is not a favorite of mine, your description is making my mouth water. Or maybe it's the crusty French bread.
