You Know You're Something Special and You Look Like You're the Best

This is what happens when you move into a house at the beginning of Winter. The snow falls before your kids get a chance to finish raking all the leaves.

So, tonight started out great. Both my girls were gone. Coadster had a showchoir performance in Cedar Rapids and Stinky went to a basketball game. I had most of the evening to myself. I made dinner last night, so all I had to do was heat things up and I could listen to my music and do stuff around the house. Then my computer went all weird on me again. I think it's the modem. I traded the last one out with the cable company about a month ago, but the replacement goes out at least once a day and tonight it took forever to get it back up and running. So, I might change it out again to see if that helps. Wouldn't it be cool to go just one day without something breaking?

There's talk of a big ice storm coming our way tomorrow. As usual, I'm set. I've got my Yaktrax, so I can just walk to work. We'll see how my co-workers do. Of course, my girls will fall asleep with visions of school being canceled dancing in their heads.

Okay. That's all I got. Tinkering with the computer must have sucked any creativity from me...Or maybe it was never there to begin with.

Churlita,
I hope the ice storm peters out or skips you all together. I can take snow up to the eaves, but ice storms, no thank you very much.

Ice storms suck .. your modem is being very unruly.. we have that happen every so often.. usually because they are upgrading the system.. the only problem is that the cable is the only thing that doesn't go out.. Just the internet and phone cut out on us...

Do you have Mediacom, Churlita? Our internet was janked up last night, as well. The router was connected but the speed was waaaaay slow and cut out intermittently. A friend on Facebook was also complaining about Mediacom's service last night.

I don't normally do this, but my word verification is "cabledi." Weird.

My parents' modem always seems to go out every day too. I keep telling her to call and get a new one, but you know how older people can be. :-)

IC gets the worst ice storms. Stay upright!!

I saw that ice storm on radar this morning. I hate those things. Be careful out there whether you walk or drive. I know you will be careful, but I feel like nagging. :)

Let it ice, let it ice, let it ice.

Careful going out in the ice, YakTrax rock but they tend to lull me into a false sense of security.

I've had cable modems die before.

The word verification word below is "Enting".

As in, I guess. "I'm going enting tonight".

No idea what it is. Might be Middle-Earth version of tow-tipping, where drunk frat-boy Orcs sneak into the forest, creep up on unsuspecting Ents in a big rush, and yell "Timber!!!!" as they push them over.

Shoot, I was kinda glad the snow fell before I had a chance to rake the leaves! Course, that doesn't make me glad about the mess I'll have to clean up later...

Stay safe!

Ice storms sound kind of menacing for some reason. I don't know much about them. We are freaked because it is raining a lot. haha!

Amazing how fast computer issues can take the fun out of it isn't it?

Be careful in the ice storm. Good thing you are prepared.

Here via Ananda Girl. We had our big snows earlier this month but we're Southern and it takes only a little snow to make us huddle in our houses moaning and dreaming of spring.

Nothing like a little comment box for telling a modem tale. The one we got from the company lasted a loooonnng 7 years. It never occurred to me that they'd go out but that's because I'm recklessly naive. Anyway, rather than buy a Motorola from them, I did my little research and bought a Cisco a few days ago. And suddenly ALLLLL the issues that I accepted as normal high speed internet issues POOOF went away. Who KNEW? (I guess that wasn't much of a tale, more like a long paragraph of encouragement.)
