Okay. Like everyone else in town, my internet cable was out all last night. I've heard that it's back up and running as of this morning, but I have yet to check it out. I guess it was out for part of the night before when I thought it was my modem as well. Mediacom sucks.
As you know, I can be a bit tenacious about obtaining or fixing something. If I think there is even a glimmer of hope, I will work the hell out of it. But if it's clear that there's no chance in hell I can fix or get the thing I want, I can finally just let it go. Which is what happened last night. I tried to get the computer to work, and then finally texted a friend to see if hers was working. She told me hers was dead too. So, I gave up, cranked up my music, cracked open a beer and cleaned my kitchen, and then read a book after that. Weird.

It's good you were able to acertain that is was a larger issue so that you could just go ahead and relax.
Sometimes when I'm reading instead of online I think it is weird too :-D
Ack, how frustrating. Well it sounds like you preoccupied yourself very well with some beer, music and kitchen cleaning!
I wish I had that abiltiy to decide to just stop fretting. I admire that.
sometimes it's well worth to have no computer.. just think of all the possibilities..beer, reading, cranked music and a clean kitchen go a long way!
Those forced breaks away from tech can be kind of nice though...
Laura, It's weird, but usually wonderful too.
Tara, Yes, I did. I'm usually pretty good at occupying myself. I have a harder time getting everything done that I want.
Ananda, Oh, I don't just stop fretting that easily. It's more like I finally realize that there's no way in hell I can fix or get whatever it is, and I have to let that go and move on. If there's even the slightest chance, I'll keep banging my head against the same brick wall forever.
Mrs. It's true. I think if I were in a relationship and had an adult to talk to at home, I wouldn't be on the computer nearly as much.
Skyler's Dad,
That's exactly how I looked at it. It was kind of nice.
