I've Seen Sunny Days That I Thought Would Never End.

We (and when I say "we", I mean John) are getting our road bikes ready for TOMROV - Tour of the Mississippi River Valley, where' we'll ride two very hilly centuries in two days. You know you live in Iowa when you find an actual hayseed in your bike cables...

My rest day yesterday, was just lovely. Thank you for asking. I made basically a picnic lunch for dinner. It was really good and made for great lunch leftovers as well.

After dinner, John worked on the bikes and I worked on trying to figure out my bike camera. I finally got the photos and videos I've been taking for the last year onto the computer. I'm sure it's pretty obvious that I'm not the most technologically inclined person in the world. That''s why I had kids. It is so worth dealing with the eye rolls and the utter condescension, so they just make things work for me.

Cat Friday sleepy cat.
I stayed awake a little later to read my current book. It is "The Son" and it is a Western, which I love. So far it feels like a cross between Cormac McCarthy's "Blood Meridian" and Edna Ferber's "Giant". I will miss it while I'm gone this weekend.

Speaking of what I'll miss this weekend...The cats will be well taken care of by our house sitters and they won't miss us one bit. Plus, they will get to free feed on dry kibble for the weekend.

Sunday looks to be rainy, with a chance of violent thunderstorms all day. It should make for interesting photos and video...

That's a ride I've wanted to do, but haven't bitten the bullet yet. I did almost those miles this weekend anyway.

It's pretty challenging. Some of those hills almost made me cry, but the views are incredible and totally worth the pain.
