There's Gotta Be Somebody Other Than Me, Who's Ready to Write it Off Immediately

This photo has nothing to do with anything else, it's just in my friend's tattoo shop and I think it's cool.

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for the internets.

Love, Churlita

You know, back in the olden days, when I was in high school, we didn't even have any internets or Facebook. (I know. How did we live?) So, if I got mad at my sister and she wasn't home to yell at, I would just have to wait until later. Since it is physically and emotionally impossible for me to hold a grudge, I would forget by the time I saw her and all that beautiful blind fury would go to waste.

Now, though. Things are different. Because of the lovely internets, when one of my girls is pissed off at the other one, they have options. Coadster can get home, see what a mess her sister made of the living room and even though her sister is at work, Coadster can still get on Facebook and oh, say...Write something cute and quaint on Stinky's wall like:

Pick up your shit before you leave the house!!!!!!!! >:0

And Stinky can receive it right away on her phone during her break. I'm pretty sure that kind of communication is exactly why god created the internets.

"And it was good."

Wow, now I wish I had the internet when I was growing up. It could get pretty interesting with me and my brothers.

Ha! We all text each other. As for the internet... don't know what I'd do without it!

I remember those days of having to call somebody on the phone to yell at them. And the phone was not a cell, and attached to the wall, and had a frickin dial!

Oh yeah, I walked 10 miles to school also...

Churlita,
The web has created a whole new world for social interaction and I love it. That said; I wouldn't give up my non-tech childhood for anything.
When you messed up you knew you were going to get a thrashing when dad got home and you didn't need any instant messaging to let you know. ;)

The internet is a beautiful space that connects us all day or night, over ridiculous distances, to make true human connections. Oh, plus, embarrass our siblings and friends, pick up men and/or women, and try out snappy one-liners!

I'll write off TV, but I refuse to write off the internets. Even if Marshall Crenshaw asked me to.

Tara, I'm sure there's much to be said both positive and negative for growing up with the internet.

Ananda, I hate talking on the phone, so I love texting.

Skyler's, Was it uphill both ways, barefoot in the snow too?

REl, I hear you. We didn't have internet in my house until my girls were in junior high. They were lucky enough playing kick the can and ghost in the graveyard with all the neighbor kids. There's no substitute for that.

LauraB., I think you covered all the most important things there at the end.

Junkgirl, Nice. You got the song reference. I love that song. Yeah. I could do without TV in a second. The internets? Not so much.
