If Only You Believe In Miracles, Baby. So Would I

Well, lookee there. It's a photo of my shadow.

So, I've been thinking lately that I want to go back to actually writing in this here blog. Originally, I started the blog as a way to write everyday. I think I envisioned that I'd be all introspective and give myself the freedom to try all different kinds of writing styles and narrative voices and stuff, and I used to do that a lot more.

Lately, it seems like my blog entries have been sounding more like, "Blah, blah, blah. Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit. Hey, look at me. I'm a douchebag!" Yeah, I know. They say to write about what you know, so I guess I've been doing that, but I feel like I should be branching out and doing different kinds of writing too.

I was thinking I'd try to do a little less obsessive documenting of my current world, and try to go back and write about some past experiences. This California trip has really got me all nostalgic about the first time I lived there, so I might work on some posts about that. Hell, I may even write a post or two in second or third person. I haven't done that in forever. So, don't be startled if the form changes on some of my posts. It could sound more like, "Blah, blah, blah. Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit. Hey, Look at what a douchebag I used to be!" Oh, and I don't want you to get all crazy and start expecting anything, but I may even proofread a post or two, just to shake things up.

I Can Read the Writing On the Wall

This Saturday Scavenger Hunt word was brought to us by the AlienCG, and he chose letters. An excellent choice to follow-up numbers from last week.

I'm definitely more comfortable with letters than numbers, because using numbers usually means you have to do math and as I've stated on here many times, I think math is bad.

I decided to use some graffiti photos I took. Most of them came from the Deadwood bathroom during my friend E.'s bachelorette party.

Since I love taking pictures of public restrooms and I heart graffiti a whole, whole bunch, I thought it would be the best use of letters that I could think of.

This last one was written on the side of the Sheridan hotel downtown. It cracks me up that people will do anything possible not to use their letters correctly when writing graffiti. As I'm sure you can all tell from reading my blog. I'm by no means a purist in any sense of the word, and I appreciate how purposely creative people can get with their spelling.

Eyes Without a Face

I did a bad thing tonight. I read over a few of my posts from the last week. I know better than to do that. It's like looking down at my thighs when I'm running for the first time after a hiatus. It's too much. It makes one want to stop running and writing altogether. Just in case you were wondering, yes, I do own a thesaurus, I actually know how to spell, and at one point in my life, I at least knew some basic grammatical rules. In my defense, I have to choose between sleeping and a well crafted blog post, and I don't want to make my daughters' lives any harder than they already are. So, all I can say is, I'm sorry, but you can expect more of the same in the future.

Tonight, though? Tonight, I will give you a break. I haven't done one of these in a while, and with Stinky around, the material is piling up. So, in the interest of purging, I'm doing another "More of Stinky's Self-Portraits" posts.

These first few are more typical of a thirteen year old girl.

These last three are kind of creepy in that dark, purposely over-exposed, noirish way.

Funky.
